The Return of the King!
Isaiah 11
In Isaiah 11 we see the future of Christ. He shall come forth from the line of Jesse (vs 1). He will rule the world with wisdom and understand, counsel and might, and fear of the Lord (vs 2). He will judge with righteousness (vs 3). We see true peace in the land as the wolf will lay down with the lamb (vs 6) and a baby can play by the pit of a cobra and not be bitten (vs 8).
As Isaiah was speaking what God told him to say we see that it was a proclamation of something to come and we read it too as a future event. Yes, Christ did come on earth to die for the forgiveness of sins but He will return to establish his Kingdom and His rule on this earth. He judges not based on sight or what he hears but on righteousness (vs 3-4). He will rule and reign far better than any earthly king, no matter how good that king was; Christ is far superior. He will reign with wisdom and understanding, showing His ability to reign with clarity. He will reign with counsel and might which will show his ability to be firm and handle the tough decisions and we see the fear of the Lord as he will reign as one leading spiritually. As Christ died and rose again, he conquered death and had victory over sin we see when He returns it will be to proclaim his throne on this earth. There will be true peace, with not just humans but all of creation and even the animal kingdom. I do long for that day when there is true peace and that is only by the Prince of Peace.
