Ezekiel 7
Who Is Lord?
Ezekiel 7:4 “… you will know that I am the LORD.” This phrase is said over 60 times throughout the book of Ezekiel. That gives us a little(huge) clue to the message that God is trying to send to His people. This judgment is happening because the people have not made God Lord of their lives; a problem many Christians face today.
What does it mean to make God Lord of your life? A Lord is someone who has authority over others. A person who power over others to do his will. So when you make God Lord of your life, you are saying to God “I want to live to do what You want.” This requires action on your part. You can not say that God is Lord of your life and then live your life however you want. You have to do what He wants. This is the true test of a Christian.
When told that His mother and brothers were there to see Him, Jesus replied to the man that told Him, “whoever does the will of My Father are My mother and brothers.”(Matt. 12:50) Jesus’ point here is that only those who actually DO the will of God are part of the family of God. If you are relying on the forgiveness that Christ paid for but you are not submitting yourself to the will of God, you need to check yourself. Wondering how to know what the will of God is? Read the Bible!
The most useful way to determine what God want you to do is to read the Word of God; the Bible. It is God’s revealed Word to us. By reading you will learn more about Christ and who He is, it will reveal you for who you really are(a sinner in need of salvation), and it will reveal God’s will for your life.
Don’t put yourself in the shoes of the people of Israel. They were submitting themselves to idols and making those idols Lord of their lives. Because of this God brought judgment on His people to reveal that He really is Lord. Make God Lord of your life. If there are any areas of your life that you are holding onto, let them go. Let God be in control.
