CRUX Daily: Life of Abraham Part 1
Read: Genesis 17:15-27 & 21:1-7
Reflect: God promised Abraham a son. How did God keep His promise to Abraham in these verses?
Request (Prayer): Father, You have always been faithful to me, help me to remain faithful to you.
Abraham in his old age, was promised a child to be born to him. Not just in old age, but in really old age. He was 100 years old without a child and yet God told him that he would give him a child, more specifically a son.
Imagine for a second, if you were 100 years old without any children and God told you that He was going to give you a son very soon. How would you react to that? I’d probably tell God that He is crazy! It seems like such an impossible situation to be in and to be promised something so detailed is hard to believe. Abraham was somewhat baffled by all of this too.
Even when situations may seem completely hopeless, God intervenes and makes the impossible possible.
Abraham was obedient and he was faithful to remaining under the authority of God, and God rewarded him by keeping His promise.
Have you found yourself in a situation that seems hopeless and yet God has told you that He is with you through it and has promised you deliverance? Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without faith it is impossible to please God.” And because of Abraham’s faith, God rewarded him.
Remain faithful unto God and He will reward you with blessings beyond any expectations you have. Trust in God through the good, but more so through the bad. God is there always, as He promised, “I will never leave you and I will never forsake you.”
Maybe you are in a tough situation now, know this, God has said that He will always be with you, and take Him at His word. God is the only person in all of history who has never lied and has never broken a promise.
I think it’s safe to say that God knows what He is doing.
