CRUX Daily: Gideon’s 300
Read: Judges 7:7 & 1 Corinthians 1:25-31
Reflect: Gideon and his small army of 300 defeated an army whose number could not be counted (v. 12). Why did God use such a small army?
Request (Prayer): Lord, help me to boast in You because it is You that is working through me.
Have you ever been asked by God to do something and you weren’t sure why? Maybe God had asked you to talk to someone who you knew was not a believer? Maybe someone was sitting by themselves at lunch and you knew that you needed to go sit with them? How did you respond to what God wanted you to do? Were you obedient? Did you kind of ignore it?
God had called Gideon to do something, something that Gideon was not expecting, to deliver the people of Israel from the enemy. How did Gideon respond to God in this matter? Gideon basically told God, “you got the wrong guy.” Gideon didn’t think he was capable of actually leading an army into battle, but it is what God called him to do, and even in the midst of doubt, God still used Gideon in such a mighty way.
How has God called you? What do you believe that God has called you to? Well we know one thing is for certain, He has called us to live pure and holy lives, set apart for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Maybe, what more specifically has God asked you to do? God turns the impossible situation into the possible, you just have to be willing to be used of God, for God. You ready?
