CRUX Daily: Start Your Day Off Right

Read: John 8:31 and Psalm 119:105

Reflect: How can you prepare yourself spiritually before you go to school?

Request (Prayer): Father, prepare me and make me ready to face the trials and temptations I will face at school.

I remember the days that I had to wake up early for school, and I dreaded it every morning! I hated getting up for school because I just wanted to keep sleeping. My dad had to literally drag me out of bed sometimes and I just didn’t want to get ready for school. I think it’s safe to say that I’m not the only one who has this problem…right? We all have a hard time getting ready for school because we have to wake up early, take a shower, get all the school equipment together, and then you actually have to go to school. Did you know that there is an easier way to get ready for school? It’s called Prayer!

If you start your day before school by praying, you will begin to see how much easier the day will go. You won’t be as cranky, you won’t sleep through geometry class, and you will actually have energy! How does this happen?! Is there like a secret power in prayer? Well actually, the power rests upon who you are praying to. We can prepare our day by praying, but also by equipping yourself with God’s Word, by reading it.

There is power in prayer, and there is also power in the Word of God. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” When you start your day off by reading the Bible, you are setting yourself up to be used by God more than you would have without reading.

If you know and understand that God’s Word is a guide for your life, it will allow you to see the power of God in your life! And better yet, if you pray and ask the Lord to allow the Word to be your light and your path, He will hear you, and He will answer you by guiding you through the day by His Word. Don’t believe me? I dare you to try it, and see if God won’t do a work in your life that day!
