CRUX Daily: Be Strong in the Lord
Read: Ephesians 6:10
Reflect: A soldier is trained before they enter in to battle. A Christian needs to be ready each and every day for the battle they will face. How can you train and prepare everyday before you go to school?
Request (Prayer): Lord, prepare me for the spiritual battles I will face at school.
Ephesians 6:10 says, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.” What powerful words! Paul is saying here, “Look, you need to stand strong in the Lord and you need to not rely upon your own strength, but upon the strength of Christ Jesus!” Why should we do this? Why should we rest upon the strength of God and not ourselves?
Well for one, we are infinite beings. We have a beginning and we have an end. We were at one time born, and we are at one time going to die. God was never born and God will never die! He is infinite! And not only is He infinite, but He is also all-powerful! If you are in a boxing match against the strongest person in the world, are you going to try and fight that person or would you allow someone else to come in and fight for you? After all, that is the situation we are in.
We are under heavy attack against Satan and his schemes, and we are at war with him. We are in this boxing match with the devil and God says to us, “I want to help.” What are you going to do at that point? Are you going to tell God, “No thanks, I’m fine.”? Or are you actually going to allow Him to fight for you? The better question could be asked, “If you fight the enemy on your own are you going to win?” Not a chance! That’s why we need the help of the Lord! Only He can truly lead us ion victory and only He can deliver us from the powers of darkness.
