Reflect: How can you remain pure?

Request (Prayer): Lord, give me strength to remain pure.

Why is it so important for us to remain pure? Well, for one, it keeps us from sinning. Another reason we should want to be pure is so that we please God. The whole scheme of things is understanding that we as humans are sinners, in need of a Savior, to cleanse us of our sin and to rid of all the impurities we have in our life.

Purity is important so that we keep ourself from sin, and grow closer in our walk with Christ. David said, “How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to Your (God) Word.” The way that we remain pure is by guarding our hearts and our minds in Christ. It is so important especially with the world around us that tempts us with so many impure things. We are surrounded by impurity and so it is important that we guard ourself in the only pure thing, God’s Word. The Bible.

Staying pure in this world is not easy. Media talks and sings about having sex all the time, television shows promote living with your boyfriend or girlfriend, and the news is filled with so much adultery and divorce going on that it is now a casual thing to do. But we as Christians, as believers of Jesus Christ, need to stand out amongst the crowd, to not be associated with the world, but to be outside of the world and living as an example.

Let’s take a stand for God and for purity and let’s see people come to know Christ through our example.
