CRUX Daily: Purity is the Best Policy

Read: 1 Corinthians 6:18-19; Psalm 119:9

Reflect: Another way to be prepared for marriage now is by committing to purity. Purity is not just in action but also in the mind. In your own words write down what purity means. Discuss that with your parents and pray with them for help in being committed to purity.

Probably an uncommon word in the world is purity and modesty. What we see through the media and read about through peoples Facebook is not promoting purity. Purity is staying away from anything that would defile or stain you. One of the hardest pressures you may face as a young person will be purity. One of the best gifts you can offer your future spouse is being pure. How does one do that?

1) Realize that your body is not yours.

In 1 Corinthians 6:18-19 we see that the Corinthian church had some purity issues. Paul wanted to remind them that Jesus died and his death paid for our bodies and our lives. Even though purity may seem hard, it is not impossible. Even though you may feel like the only one, remind yourself that Jesus died and rose again and made it possible for you.

2) Obey the Word of God

Psalm 119:9 says, “How can a young person keep his ways pure? By guarding it according to your word.” The Word of God is our manual in this life as well as the warning label. We see that this is both. It is solid advice and truth with a warning. That is why it is so important to read your Bible daily.

3) Make it a habit of prayer

Jesus even told us to pray so we are not led into temptation (Matthew 6:13) and we should pray for us to be committed to purity. Make it a habit to pray even before the temptation happens. We need the Lords help, lets ask him for it!

Request: Father, teach me how to keep myself pure for You!
