Long Live the King!

Read: Revelation 19:16

Reflect: Our God is King. What does it mean to be a king and how do you worship a king?

Request (Prayer): God, You are King, how do You want me to worship You?

We’ve seen it in the movies, we’ve seen it in books, the king that rules over all the land, exercises his authority and is usually saving the princess from the evil lord or dragon.

The king in the story is the hero of it all, and is usually at the end of the movie or book, praised with a huge celebration, congratulating him for his heroic deeds. Most of this, is of course, fiction, but some of it can also be true.

When thinking of the word “king” what comes to mind? Royalty? Power? Authority? Now thinking of those terms, look at those principles and apply them to God. Is God a king? Absolutely! Does He have power and authority? You betcha! With now understanding God as King, how should we praise Him for all the heroic things He has done?

What exactly has He done? Well, He sacrificed His own Son for the sake of His people. He defeated the powers of Satan and death and is now the King seated on the throne in Heaven. For the things that He has done, we should be praising and rejoicing God for all He has accomplished.. Long live the King! Long live the King!

We should be people who worship God, who bow down before His throne and exalt, or lift high, the name of Jesus! For He alone is worthy, He alone is to be praised, for there is no one like Him!

What a brave man Jesus was, and what a great Savior He is! We need to come boldly before the throne of God, because God said we could, but we also need to come with a humble attitude as well. If we come in with pride before the throne, we are going to want to kick Him off the throne and put ourself up there. But if we come with humility, God, the King can then use us in His Kingdom for the work He has for us.
