Giving as Worship

Read: Matthew 23:23

Reflect: Jesus rebukes the religious leaders of the time in this section of Scripture. What appears to be more important then giving money?

Request (Prayer): Ask the Lord to give you a heart that desires to give whatever He asks for.

When we think of the whole idea of worship, we put it into a category of singing songs, lifting hands and such. But worship goes far beyond that! We can worship God by giving. And by giving, we can give in many different ways. We can give of our time to God, our resources, our possessions and even our money.

One of the greatest forms of worship comes from when we give back to God what is already His. Like for instance, our money. Is our money, really our money? Did we earn it? Sure we did, but who gave us the ability to earn it? The Lord did. And when we give back to God the things that He has blessed us with, He will bless us even more!

God wants us to rely on Him. He wants us to trust in Him, and He tells us to put Him to the test to see if He won’t bless us as much, and if not more than what we already have. And when we can rely on God with our money and of giving, He will bless us with more than what we gave, whether we gave of money, time, possessions or of resources.

Try God, and see if He will bless you even more as you give to Him as an act of surrendering and worship.
