CRUX Daily: School Armor

Read: Ephesians 6:10-20

Reflect: What does Paul tell us about spiritual battles? Do you face spiritual battles at school? Give some examples of battles you have faced or that your friends have faced.

Request (Prayer): Lord, I want to be ready for the spiritual battles I will face at school. Help me to put on all the armor of God.

When the enemy attacks you, do you think that is an attack for your body physically or an attack on your soul? A better question to ask would be, “Does satan want to hurt you physically and beat you up, or does he want you to deny God and follow him?” The answer is definitely that Satan wants to attack your soul, and wants you to be taken into the pit of hell with him.

CRUX Daily: Start Your Day Off Right

Read: John 8:31 and Psalm 119:105

Reflect: How can you prepare yourself spiritually before you go to school?

Request (Prayer): Father, prepare me and make me ready to face the trials and temptations I will face at school.

I remember the days that I had to wake up early for school, and I dreaded it every morning! I hated getting up for school because I just wanted to keep sleeping. My dad had to literally drag me out of bed sometimes and I just didn’t want to get ready for school. I think it’s safe to say that I’m not the only one who has this problem…right? We all have a hard time getting ready for school because we have to wake up early, take a shower, get all the school equipment together, and then you actually have to go to school. Did you know that there is an easier way to get ready for school? It’s called Prayer!

CRUX Daily: 1st Corinthians 10:31

Read: Memorize 1st Corinthians 10:31

Reflect: Write down anyone that the Holy Spirit wants you to share the Gospel with…be specific

Request (Prayer): Lord, show me who You want me to share the Gospel with at my school.

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

What do you like to do? What do you enjoy doing in life? Whatever it is that comes to mind, there is one thing you must know and practice in your life. It is what 1st Corinthians 10:31 says, “Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

CRUX Daily: Be a Light at Your School

by Jared Saavedra

Read: Matthew 5:13-16

Reflect: Do you ever question why you have to go to school? Do you ever get frustrated with school? How can you be salt and light to others around you?

Request (Prayer): Father, I want to be a light in the darkness at my school. Give me courage and boldness to be that light.

Sometimes when we hear this, we think Jesus says, “You’re like salt and light.” On the contrary, he says, “You are salt and light.” We have a single function to worship; and if we’re not doing that, we’re not only wasting our lives, but we’re losing ground for the gospel (Matthew 12:30). We don’t have to strive to be salt and light; we just are. Think of a light switch that only has an “on” button. To turn it off, you have to tear it off the wall and throw it away.

CRUX Daily: Out of Fear, Comes Joy

Read: 1 Kings 19:13-21 & Mark 5:36

Reflect: After Elijah got over his fears, he obeyed God. What is God calling you to do that you are afraid of? What fears do you need to get over? How can you plan to be obedient?

Request (Prayer): God, help me to be obedient when You call me to do something.

Being afraid is a natural thing for us as humans. We have a hard time believing that everything will be ok. We have a hard time realizing that God is in control, after all, that is where our fear comes from isn’t it? We are afraid because we feel like God in nowhere to be found.

Fear can be overcome! Did you know that? God had told many people throughout history including Moses, Joshua and Isaiah to what? Not be afraid! Why? Because God was with them every step of the way. And just as God was with them every step of the way, God is with us every step of the way. The Bible says that God is never changing, he is the same yesterday, today and forever.

CRUX Daily: God’s Still, Small Voice

Read: 1 Kings 19:9-12

Reflect: Elijah had seen God do big things but God wanted to speak to Elijah in a still small voice. Has God ever tried to speak to you with a still small voice? Did you listen?

Request (Prayer): Lord, help me to be quiet so I can hear You when You speak to me.

There’s an old joke that goes, “Can’t you hear that fire alarm?” The other person responds, “What? I can’t hear you because of the fire alarm.”

Yes, we live in a culture of noise. Vying for our attention are friends, family, television, and glowing computer screens. Sometimes we don’t know what to listen to and we ignore everything… even when God himself is speaking.
